“If you are deliberately trying to create a future that feels safe, you will willfully ignore the future that is likely.”
Seth Godin

Picture this; a room of 10 -12 business all passionate, competitive and ambitious business owners excited and ready for the 12 months ahead, excited and raring to get on with doubling their business. There is fire in the bellies of everyone in the room and a vibrancy and sparkle in their eyes. We are in the final section of the DYB launch event and then I say:

‘There will be times when things are going well, you moving forward at a great rate of knots and then you are thrown a curve ball maybe you get customer complaints because a key member of your team has let you down or you can’t keep up with demand, maybe a significant client or the market place you trade moves the goal posts and your sales take an unexpected dive, maybe the deal that you have spent weeks pulling together falls through at the last minute, maybe other members of your team lose heart when they don’t see results soon enough. It may feel like the wheels are falling off the wagon. Expect these times because they will happen. They are a part of the growth journey. They are a good thing. They test us, they cause us to show up as leaders, to believe in ourselves, our product or service and that we have the ability to get back on track and be stronger as a result of the set back”.

Across the two groups that are going through the DYB process, every business has had one of these times. It was felt uncomfortable, stressy and as if everything was going wrong…..and every one has come out the other side stronger. They have developed new sales channels, a new network of distributors, put more structure into their management and developed their team, secured new business. Everyone of them came out the other side stronger, with a growth surge and an inner confidence that know they overcome that challenge they are ready for the next one.

In every case the guys and girls on DYB have learnt that such “wheels falling off the wagon” moments are all about of the journey, they’ve known when to ask for help and they have seen how expert mentoring and accountability is invaluable in them and their business coming out the other side in a new growth phase.

Doubling your business is not just about growing your business. It is really about growing you and your team. This is the power and the beauty of a programme like this. You get so much more than revenue and profit growth. You have to become more to deliver more bottom line. This is what makes it so powerful.
