What are you tuned into?
The media are feeding us a diet of a doom and gloom about the state of the UK economy, the Eurozone crisis, high street casualties and the list goes on. Whether we are actively watching the news or have the radio on in the background, as business owners the messages we consume has an effect on our state of mind, our confidence and ultimately upon our investment decisions. My research has shown that business owners are increasingly ‘sitting on the fence’ regarding investment decisions, they are skeptical of the promises of potential new suppliers and they are holding back from implementing growth strategies that have now lost some of their shine.
This is of course perpetuating the headlines they most fear. Of course it is sound business practise to halt a strategy that would no longer be effective. However, the ‘let’s wait and see’ approach is not an effective strategy. I believe there are parallels between business and nature. Everything in nature is either growing or dyeing; the cycle of life. In nature there is very little ‘wait and see’.
I believe that whilst you wait and see there will be another player in the market that will have the courage to move forward with their strategy and in so doing gain market advantage.
We know that in every single stage of an economic cycle, in every sector, in every geography there is always a business that outperforms the market. What are the products or service that represent your best opportunity to outperform the market? Then take consistent and massive action.
Be bold, be decisive and monitor closely what is working and what is not working, changing your approach accordingly. You cannot do that, if you are tuned into ‘doom & gloom fm’ on your radio.
Turn off the bad news. I recommend that you tune into a different frequency.
Read how other businesses grew through tough economic times, talk to other Entrepreneurs who are experiencing double digit growth now (there are more than you might think) and find out what they are doing differently. Hang around with other successful business people, particularly those that are doing better than you.
The more that you hang out with people like this, the more that you will learn from them and become like them.
Allow these influences to inform your business thinking and see your business grow.

I have to show some thanks to you for iailbng me out of this particular crisis. Right after surfing through the search engines and obtaining concepts that were not powerful, I assumed my entire life was over. Being alive without the answers to the issues you have sorted out as a result of this write-up is a serious case, and those that might have adversely affected my career if I hadn’t encountered your blog. Your own personal natural talent and kindness in maneuvering the whole lot was invaluable. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I hadn’t come upon such a solution like this. It’s possible to now look ahead to my future. Thanks very much for this high quality and sensible guide. I won’t think twice to refer your blog to any person who wants and needs guidelines on this issue.
